CRC 637 - Autonomous Cooperating Logistic Processes – A Paradigm Shift and its Limitations - Subproject C2
Project Summary: 

The objective of the subproject is the conception and implementation of a service-oriented, system independent approach to data integration within the context of autonomous control. On the basis of the existing communication channels and protocols, the proposed approach will provide support for arbitrary logical views upon the entirety of data required by autonomous control in logistics processes. Regardless of the querying entity, the approach will provide transparent access to the physical data sources whilst delivering the data in a native form. Necessary conversions and transformations will be carried out automatically and without the querying entity’s involvement.

OPAK

Project Name: 
OPAK – Optimized Packing Logistics in the Lifecycle Economy
Project Summary: 

OPAK (OPtimized PAcKing logistics in the life cycle economy) was a project with a focus on the optimisation of the redistribution of plastic materials for recycling processes. With the RFID-system technology and the optimisation of available technological infrastructures, it was planned to improve the logistic process units of those materials. In the course of the project a research demonstrator providing identification and positioning of packing items was built with the aim of generating experiences with RFID-systems in real-life situations. During the project, a method for tracking and tracing with RFID as the corner stone technology for both identification and positioning was developed.

MarLife

Project Name: 
MarLife marine LCM – Integrated Lifecycle Management for the Seaborne Industry
Project Summary: 

The current challenges of marine industry, which have been identified by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, are the improvement of its profitability, the optimisation of the ecological compatibility, the improvement of safety and the integration of the ships as a carrier into international transportation chains. The MarLife project focused on a distinct improvement of the reliability and profitability of shipping business as well as on the protection of the environment. Throughout the duration of the project, the partners analysed the life cycle costs of ships, examined specific scenarios of the shipping business and developed a life cycle management concept as well as life cycle management solutions.

The consortium working in the TraSer project is developing, testing, and documenting innovative open-source tracing and tracking solutions for products and product data of companies involved in changing networks.

Project Name: 
Product Lifecycle Management and Information Tracking Using Smart Embedded Systems
Project Summary: 

PROMISE-PLM focuses on gathering, processing and delivering relevant product information during the complete lifecycle of the product, addressing existing gaps in the information flow and creating better understanding of total life cycle events and the total costs of products over the lifecycle.

The breakthrough contribution of PROMISE-PLM is to allow information flow management to go beyond organisational barriers, securely. It effectively closes the product lifecycle information loops using the latest ICT (Information and Communication Technology), and seamlessly transforms that information into knowledge.
