PLM10 - Call for Papers

You are cordially invited to participate in the 7th International Product Lifecycle Management Conference, PLM10, to take place 12th - 14th July 2010 in Bremen in the North West of Germany.  This will be the seventh PLM conference and the first to be held in Germany. Following the successful first six conferences, held in Bangalore (2003), Lyon (2005), Bangalore (2006), Bergamo/ Milano (2007), Seoul (2008) and Bath (2009), the purpose of the PLM10 conference will be to present recent developments in this area of both significant academic interest and critical importance to industrial enterprises. The conference is promoted by the International Federation for Information Processing (ifip) Working Group 5.1 on Global Product Development for the whole Lifecycle (www.ifip-wg51.org).

Conference Scope

Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) is an integrated business approach to the collaborative creation, management and dissemination of engineering data throughout the extended enterprises that create, manufacture and operate engineered products and systems. It is an important approach for the support of these extended enterprises over the whole lifecycle of products and systems from concept to end of life and disposal. PLM involves issues of people, processes, business systems, and information, and presents major opportunities for those involved in the processes and tools used in all aspects of the product lifecycle.

Continuing in the strong traditions established by previous PLM conferences, PLM10 will bring together researchers, developers, and users of PLM in an event that will combine keynote lectures, exhibitions, paper presentations, poster and panel sessions with an active social programme in a historic city. The conference programme will give ample opportunity for discussion to give attendees the opportunity to influence the future PLM research and development agenda. We invite PLM researchers, developers and practitioners to join the conference in order to shape the future of this new field and advance the science and practice of enterprise systems development. Contributions are invited on all aspects of PLM, including product innovation, collaborative product development, capture, curation and reuse of design information, enterprise systems integration, supply chain management, item-level and closed-loop PLM, change management, recycling management, sustainable PLM development and related topics.

Venue

The event will take place at the attractive modern campus of the University of Bremen, located closely to the historic city centre. Bremen‘s history goes back over 1,200 years and can be encountered everywhere: The baroque and renaissance backdrop of the Market Square, the Town Hall and the Roland statue (UNESCO World Heritage site), the patrician houses, or the old-city quarters are examples of the many historical places to discover.

The region is an important location for German engineering competencies in automobile manufacture, electronics, steel, shipbuilding and the aerospace industry. Additionally, it plays a leading role in the food processing industry, for example for coffee, beer, chocolate and spices. In recent years, the city has rapidly changed into a location for service and high-tech industry.

Paper Submission

Authors are invited to submit abstracts to register interest in the Conference (this is not mandatory but is preferred), then original papers of up to 10 pages in length for review.  Each paper will be reviewed by three members of the international Programme Committee, and those that are accepted will be published, by Inderscience Publishers, in the Conference proceedings and may be considered for publication in the International Journal of Product Lifecycle Management (IJPLM, www.inderscience.com/ijplm). Submission instructions will be given on the PLM10 website: www.plm10.org. Industry presentations or emerging research presentations are also welcome which do not require paper submission.
