Change management v/s change management

I have been pushing for innovation and change in every organisation I have ever worked in. It has always been an uphill battle in both directions, up and down the organisational hierachy.

Playing with a new piece of software the other day which was heralded as facilitating change management, it suddenly dawned on me that whilst on the one side we have people trying to manage the (ever more complex) operational aspects of change, on the other side there are people like me who wish to change the way things are done.
